About us

Hope for Rural Community focuses on Economic Empowerment, Gender Equality, Mental Health, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programs.

We believe that lasting change happens when communities take the lead in shaping their own future. That’s why we use a participatory, co-creation approach working hand in hand with local leaders, youth, and women to design and implement context-specific, sustainable solutions that respond directly to their realities.

Our work blends economic opportunity with health and social inclusion. We go beyond training and outreach by helping communities build the skills, resilience, and confidence they need to lead their own development.

Through a holistic model of empowerment, we integrate livelihoods, health, and gender equality, ensuring that no one is left behind. We strive to stimulate awareness, nurture self-reliance, and inspire collective action to create lasting solutions.

Our Vision

To build a just, healthy, and equitable community where everyone, regardless of gender, background, or location, has equal access to opportunities and dignified livelihoods. We envision a Kenya where no community remains marginalized, and every individual can contribute meaningfully to society with confidence, health, and hope.

Our Mission

To strengthen marginalized rural communities through inclusive programs that enhance economic resilience, promote mental well-being, advance gender equality, and expand access to quality health services. We exist to bridge opportunity gaps through capacity building, mentorship, and partnerships that strengthen resilience and inspire inclusive growth.

How We Work

Our Approach

Community Ownership

Solutions are designed with the community, not for them.

Integrated Programming

Linking health, economic empowerment, and gender equality for greater impact.

Capacity Building

Investing in skills, leadership, and local structures for long-term sustainability.

Evidence and Learning

Using data and feedback to adapt and improve our interventions.

Partnership

Working collaboratively with government, local organizations, and the private sector to scale what works.

Our Causes

Skill Up, Mentorship & Coaching Programs

We equip youth and women with the skills, mentorship, and coaching they need to start, grow, and sustain successful businesses. Through business incubation, training, and tailored resources, we support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to achieve long-term viability and resilience.

Vijana na Biz — Youth Entrepreneurship

We foster a culture of entrepreneurship among young people, turning innovative ideas into scalable business opportunities. Our approach strengthens youth-led organizations, improves access to finance and markets, and supports evidence-based advocacy that enables youth to thrive as economic drivers in their communities.

Keep a Girl in School — Education & Empowerment

Education is a powerful tool to break cycles of poverty and gender-based violence. By keeping girls in school, we empower them to become confident leaders, role models, and change-makers within their families and communities. Our programs address barriers to education while promoting holistic personal and academic development.

Mental Health Advocacy

We challenge stigma, misinformation, and discrimination surrounding mental health through community education, awareness campaigns, advocacy, and peer support programs. Our goal is to improve access to mental health services, foster community support networks, and promote positive well-being for all.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)

We ensure that young people have access to accurate SRHR information and services, empowering them to make informed choices regarding their health and well-being. Our programs advocate for safe, inclusive, and discrimination-free environments, where young people’s rights are respected and upheld.

Our Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3)

We promote mental and physical health in rural communities through mental health advocacy, SRHR education, HIV testing, counseling, and support services. All programs are integrated with life skills training and coaching, empowering individuals to make informed health decisions.

Gender Equality (SDG 5)

We empower women and girls by advocating against discrimination, violence, and exploitation. Our initiatives include leadership development, digital and technology skills training, and programs that promote economic and social empowerment, ensuring women and girls can participate fully in their communities.

Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8)

We strengthen local economies by supporting social and green economic empowerment, job creation, and formalization of small, medium, and micro enterprises. Our work connects entrepreneurs to sustainable financial services and markets, fostering resilient livelihoods and inclusive growth.

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)

We actively collaborate with like-minded organizations, local governments, and private sector partners to mobilize resources, leverage expertise, and maximize the impact of our programs working together to achieve measurable and lasting development outcomes.
